Mortgage and PPI claim query

I have received a letter from my old bank Halifax/RBOS, informing me that I may be entitled to a refund. I am in the process of filling in their questionnaire. I note from the MoneySavingExperts guidance that I can claim if there were two names on the mortgage but only my name on the PPI. My husband was over 65 at the time we took the mortgage, do you think that is why only my name appears on the PPI. Can I submit that info as part of their misrepresentation? I do hope that someone can help me with this. I was 50 at the time, should they not have taken our ages into account? Yes I know that we should have taken our ages into account but we thought things were okay at the time. We lost our business and then our home. I would be thrilled if I could get some money back. Is the mortgage and PPI linked, in that they will both be taken into account when deciding on a claim?
Hopefully someone knows what the heck I am talking about! Thank you :rotfl:

I have just had to rewrite a redundancy policy into a sole name and they were both named on the application (with him being entitled to 100% as she isn't currently earning) but the insurer wouldn't accept the application unless she was taken off it completely so I don't think that would be the reason.

If the letter relates to PPI, it's unlikely they'll look at the mortgage also. You would need to complain about mortgage mis-selling separately (you can easily do this, just write them a letter saying why you think your mortgage was mis-sold (for the reasons you think it was, i.e. it should have been obvious due to your partner's age that you couldn't keep up the repayments long term - assuming you shouldn't have been able to)).

Re PPI, your complaint may be upheld, but if you were 50 and your partner was past normal retirement age, then it's a positive (in Halifax's favour) that it was recommended to only you.

    Good luck

That is not grounds for complaint. That is quite common and acceptable (i.e. covering the major earner).

Yes. It would be mis-sold if he was on it. As he is not, then it is not a mis-sale reason.

They have which is why your husband is not on it and you are.

Nothing you have said indicates any wrongdoing. Indeed, it verifies it was set up correctly on the points you have raised.
