I am a cheapskate when it comes to disposable stuff...

See, I'm the other way round. I'll gladly try and save money on boring essential disposables (for example, I won't spend a fiver on a pack of toilet roll when I can get 36 rolls for the same price from £stretcher). But when it comes to fun disposables (say chocolate, booze at the weekend, or a snack), I'll happily spend a bit more to get a decent product. Where decent = well reviewed, ethical etc. etc.

For me, disposables are where my fun money goes, so Fairtrade chocolate and Scottish craft beers are probably just my equivalent of an iPad ;)

Nine and a half hours in bed, that's the way to start the day :j

Was feeling really run down last night, a good snooze has done me the world of good. Managed to finish off quite a few tasks yesterday, but had hoped to accomplish more.
    • Bought aquarium plants, did some fishy feng shui, some aquarium plumbing and then filled with 200l of water
    • Caught all the fish, put them back in their real home and cleaned out their temporary home
    • Bought groceries, a really cheap week as we got loads last weekend
    • Did a quick cowboy hoover
    • Stuck our wonky laminate threshold strip down with superglue (the original glue wasn't holding). Only for disaster to strike, with wonky white marks! Several applications of rubbing alcohol later and I think it's fixed...
    • Made HM parsnip and carrot soup for dinner with some ropey vegetables
    • £2 to EF
    • £2 to FF
    • Cleaned shoes

Today should be more relaxed. Going out for breakfast with rellies this morning, then a trip to our recycling centre/tip to get rid of cardboard, old lightbulbs, electronics and cables, laminate offcuts and a pair of hated memory foam pillows :rotfl:

Other than that? I may get some dowels to fix our door, but I remain unconvinced.

£2 to EF, £2 to FF.

Brekkie was great and as we were in a posh part of the Southside, we took a trip to Wh0le Foods Market. We stocked up on essentials including wet garlic; Korean rice crackers and Greek olives :o

The tip to the recycling centre/tip wasn't nearly as traumatic as expected and a bath helped my aching bits and bobs. I also managed to drill the door frame to pack in some dowels with wood glue. I should be able to rehang it tomorrow, we will have our living room back.

The fish look very happy in their new surroundings, behaving quite naturally. The 3 new introductions have finally realised what species they are and are now hanging out with their peers :rotfl:

Other than that, made some banana bread, bought some Christmas presents online and made £18 or so from a MB.

I have to ask what wet garlic is??? Other than garlic that was left out in the rain!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
