Should you be interested, the Paul Mas Malbec (2015) is on offer for £6 in Morries at the moment. I've just picked up a couple (rude not to, really). I recall you recommending the Claudette du Languedoc recently when that was on offer. Although not a Decanter award-winner, his wines are usually good drinking and I am fond of MalbecSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

Thanks both.
Conjunctivitis a wee bit better, but regrettably both Mr M's out of wine :rotfl:
On couch with a beer feeling sorry for myself0 -
Still feeling rotten, but back at work. Several brief absences over the course of the last year mean that I can't really afford to be out of the office (don't you just love kids)?
£10 from a Zopa referral banked. Normally I'd pay this into savings, but I think I'll let myself keep the next few towards my London trip
Ironically I think that I've made more from P2P referrals than I ever did in interest!
House price appears to have dipped by another few ££££, thanks Brexit. As well as more expensive staples in the supermarket, I have also noticed that it is now nigh on impossible to pick up decent reductions. I suspect the reason is that everyone is starting to feel the pinch (whether consciously or unconsciously) of rising prices and wage growth stagnation? I used to be able to fill our freezer with decent quality reductions, it was a bit of a game almost. Now I'd say that I find maybe 1/4 of what I used to.... I am grateful that we earn ok wages, but I am definitely starting to notice inflation outpacing wage growth in real ways.
The final damage of council tax reductions was an increase of nearly 8.5%. Considering the fact that we were told we were facing 2 increases of 3% each, I am at a loss to explain why the real figure is this highIt is a little frustrating scrimping a few £ here and there when taxes can turn around and take £25/month at a moment's notice.
*Edit: just realised that the drop in home equity now means that we have more in S&S equities than bricks and mortar. That's exciting, will be a millionaire homeless nomad before I know it :rotfl:0 -
Question for MFW bloggers - can you recommend a cheap domain registrar for parking a few domains relevant to my eventual blog?
No time to do anything bar register them at the moment, but I have figured out a name and want to get started.0 -
Ed - It depends what council tax band you are as to the increase, I have copied this from our council's page
"The Scottish Government has also changed the way that council tax for bands E to H is calculated, which means that bills for these households will increase by more than 3%. The council has no control over this part of the increase."
I hope this makes more sense.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200
MFiT-T7 No. 6 £2873.51/£30,0000 -
That got me started on some internet searching - I've actually made a mistake - the increase is 10.5%
It is pathetic that I am bracketed with the wealthiest people in the country when we own a 3 bedroom shoebox in a nondescript suburb
I'm actually in favour of increased taxes to solve budgetary problems where the money is spent well, but this is too high an increase to be ignored. Aaaand Scottish Water have put up their prices.0 -

I am burying my head in the sand and waiting for our breakdown to come through...what band are you in?
Edit - I have just checked, I should be grateful that ours is only going up by £27 a month after a 10 year freeze.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200
