Aye!
Amazed they need 'experts' to figure out how to save money!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)Original End Date - Sept 2041 New projection - Sep 2038 (reduced by 3 years)0 -
Only caught the end. Did they say £240 A WEEK :eek::eek::eek::eek:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
Mortgage Balance = £0

Think it was at least that, yes. Highlights included a family of 4 eating 6-7 loaves of bread, 4 packs of sausages and 4 litres of fruit juice a week... They also had a grand of brand name crap in their cupboards... :rotfl:
A big week for the two of us is a £45 spend, £30 is average.0 -
I've got it recorded. Is it not worth watching then?Busymumofthreeplusdog......
..............on a mission to curtail the spending and build up the savings

I watched it!!! £1000 of food in the house!!!! What is that about! and no matter how rich I was I would never spend £240 on food for the week!!! there was only 2 adults and 2 not very big kids too! - pre MSE days and when my ex and I were together I would maybe spend £120 for 3-4 adults and 2 kids (plus a dog and a cat!) and now I have ditched my ex and got a bit more savvy I have got down to around £75 a week and probably could get lower if I really felt motivated (£18 this week!)
In terms of baby 'stuff' they don't need as much as you think and you will get so many gifts you will have disposable clothes for a while if you wanted to - In the first few weeks/ months simple is best - baby grows vests etc - all these little outfits with headbands and tights and socks and shoes etc are gorgeous but faffy and only on for 5 mins before they puke, wee or poo all over them!!! so take tiny stuff back and get sensible sizes for when Baby Edd is a little bigger and less likely to leak body fluids as soon as you move her!!
I have had 4 and took me to number 4 to work all this out!!! (PS wouldn't be without them!!!)0 -
Still in shock over their spend. Thinking about it in terms of FI - if they could go down to our spending level for 4 years they would have enough money saved to establish a perpetuity that means they would *never* have to find grocery money again :eek:In the first few weeks/ months simple is best
Thanks for the tip, funnily enough a work colleague said the same thing last week

Good Morning Ed.....re the food debate, I was just wondering how much of that was not necessarily on food, but on other liquid refreshment - beer, wine etc. I got the impression that they both enjoyed a beverage. Having nearly finished dry Jan, it is amazing how that extra for booze adds up.0

The sausages weren't a particularly nice brand as demonstrated by the show. I can get people spending money if they want to use local suppliers of really good food but it wasn't.June 2026, Mortgage free, Emergency fund fully funded & £200/200 cash maximum pb holding .:jWeight 12st challenge 11st 2lb

Wow - it sounds vile  I watched two iplayer programmes last night - the first ep of the new series of Top Gear, where Richard falls off his bike in St Petersburg, and Homes Under The Hammer
I used to record that all the time to watch later. 2023: the year I get to buy a car0
