Getting my head out of the sand

Hi All,
I've decided to take my head out of the sand and rather than throwing my post in the bin actually open it and deal with what is inside!
This morning I received a letter from MKR Rapid Response chasing a Barclaycard debt from when I was a student many years ago! I have sent them the prove it letter just now - my question is, if they can't prove the debt will it be removed from my credit file?
Thanks

Not sure, but just to suggest you get statutory £2 copies of your credit file from Experian and Equifax (no need to pay more than that, or for their 'scores').
Noddle is useful too, but not as widely used as the above0 -
Thanks - I signed up to Noddle as I saw that it was free to access. will also send off my £2 to the others to see exactly where I am!0

Hi there,
You mention that the debt is from years ago, debts generally fall of your credit report after 6 years. In addition, it may well be that the debt is now 'statute barred'. If the debt is over six years old, and if there has been no payments or any written contact to them in all that time, they may not be able to successfully sue you for the money.
We've two fact sheets that you may find useful:
Here's our credit referencing fact sheet.
Here's our Limitation Act fact sheet.
Very best wishes,
