Buying from China

Options
I bought an item from China and when it arrived it was badly damaged. Payment was made through PayPal. PayPal have agreed to refund the cost but are saying I have to return the item with me bearing the cost. Does China have any distance selling regulations? Really do think I should have to pay the cost of return.:(

Unfortunately not. You have pretty much no legal protection when buying from China.

Not really relevant to the question!

But buying from China is very much buyer beware - some vendors like DX will do all they can to please customers, others will do all they can to fleece customers. You're dependant on the vendor's goodwill to remedy the situation, so let them know, they may send a replacement if you can prove it arrived damaged

Perhaps paypal will waive the requirement to return the item if counterfeit?

Not sure if thats why the question was asked or not, it was just the first thing that came to mind since I believe you're prohibited from sending counterfeit good through the post.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

    It is absolutely 101% relevant.

Its illegal to knowingly export counterfeit goods from the UK. If they were counterfeit then you could refuse the insistence to return the goods to place of origin
