Old person (me) question

I'm changing from TalkTalk to BT infinity. My present email address is an AOL one, will that stay the same and the emails come through as normal? Will I need a separate BT one for anything? Thanks from an old git ;)
It's someone else's fault.

I am not lucky enough to have Infinity where I live but I changed from AOL to BT last year and although I had to set up a BT e.mail account my AOL one is still very much active.

I just got to aol.com and login as normal. Not sure if I will be allowed to do this indefinitely but no problems so far.

Chances are your AOL email adress will cease at some point after you stop subscribing to Talk Talk, best to get a non ISP specific email provider before you do the deed.

Why are you xferring to Infinity, cant you just upgrade to TT fibre?

I'm not so sure the aol emails do time out. I have noticed several long time customers with the IP I work with still have aol email accounts .

I wouldn't use TalkTalk if there is an alternative -I hear more complaints about them than all the other internet providers put together so I can understand why the OP is moving.

Yes you will be able to use the AOL email address and it will not close even though you have moved provider.

AOL email is the same as any other email provider (hotmail, gmail etc) so even though you were given it when you joined AOL it is not tide into you staying with them.

I've been with AOL/TalkTalk for over ten years. When I moved home two years ago my broadband speed was a consistent 5Mbps. After about a year it suddenly dropped to around 3Mbps but still consistent so no major problem.

About three months ago it became very inconsistent going from anywhere between 1 and 3 so I phoned the helpline. They tried a couple of things with no success and offered to send out an engineer but if a fault was found at my end I would have to pay £50. I suggested that after over 10 years of paying them they might want to remove that possible cost but they said no.

They have now lost a customer who would have upgraded to their fibre and probably stayed for many years, all for the sake of £50 and possibly not even that if there was no fault at my end.

    Thanks for that, good news.

    Hi

Like you {both in age and changing from AOL to BT} I did find that I has signed up to some bits on AOL that were not cancelled as part of the AOL package {ie I could still use AOL chat} and found that I was being charged {I think it was about £3.00 per month for it} so make sure that your old AOL is totally ended as these will still be live

I reckon it depends if the email was first setup on a dial up account.
My Tiscali email still works, from dialup days back in 2005.
    Move along, nothing to see.
