Debt with Bank & out of court settlement

Please can you help me. I have started the court process & the bank HSBC, are defending the claim, however they have offered me a settlement. I asked for £2500 & they have offered £1685, BUT as i have an outstanding debt of £1200 approx, (which i am repaying at a reduced rate as i have massive debts) HSBC have said they will deduct what i owe them & they will send me the balance! Can they do that? Surely i should be able to distrube the money evenly amongst my creditors, rather that HSBC get their debt paid off?
I would aprreciate your advice.

I am afraid the bank has a right to offset any charges reclaimed from them against any money owed to them.Reclaimed thanks to this site:
