Timer Switch on router and TV for Micro green - or not?
Sorry this is meant for Green and Ethical forum - can it be moved
Hello,
A quick question. I don't have all the facts - I apologise.
I'm considering buying 2 plug timers to turn off the following.
- Router
- TV (standby) & Freeview box (standby)
I don't have a plug in watt meter, but I'm guessing the router is about 10w and the Tv/ Box is 3w combined on standby.
I work weekdays, and sleep at night.
These could be switched off 7 hours over night plus 10 hours on weekdays. My question is would this be worth doing? I think I can save a few quid a year. (Or a pretty good roi on the £3 plug timer)
The point of my question is this:
What does a plug timer cost to run? Is it 1 watt - more or less? Is an electronic timer more efficient than an clock timer?
Cheers!
p.s considering this is the green forum, not just money saving, this solution involves manufacturing and shipping (from china) a plug timer.

Probably not, as the board guides/mods don't routinely read every post.
Perhaps someone here may know how to answer your question, but not me...:o
From a simple person's perspective, I can only observe that if being ethical is that complicated, it's going to be an uphill job selling it to the rest of us!0 -
i am guessing the socket the items are plugged into are not accessible.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..
