Recurring Boiler Problem

May try this in the home section also!
Basically, we have a recurring faulty part in our boiler. Either in December 2012 or June 2013, the flow turbine failed in our boiler (new build from September 2010). The part was replaced by the manufacturer as a good well gesture. Manufactuer says Dec 2012...we think it was the later date (will find out tomorrow which is correct).
Anyway, unit has failed again for the same reason (basically, the boiler doesn't register when hot water is requested 90% of the time).
16 months or 9 months...it's no time for a part to last!
Manufacturer is saying it's not their problem (it's a motorised unit and it's subject to wear and tear...couldn't put a time frame on its expected life due to variables)...people who own the estate are helping us to see if they can pull any strings (getting an plumber to come look at it and see what they think...but it's not their problem).
We asked our usual plumber to look at it; took the housing off and said he wouldn't touch it. Whoever 'replaced' the turbine hadn't actually replaced it...they'd tried but couldn't get the nut off, nearly rounded it and replaced the head instead only. He thinks the main body is still the original part. Quick fix so the boiler would register the request but still part of the component was faulty.
Quote from manufacturer is £295!!!
Part cost is £25...and call out from British Gas (for example with their care package thing) would be £79 odd.
Which was should I be pushing this? SoGA route? Only thing is it needs fixing ASAP as soon hot water will stop totally. I don't want to pay £300 either.
Apologise for the hasty typing. Long day and need some shut eye!
TIA
