DRP Threatening letter

A month or so ago I got a letter from a debt collection company saying that the car my son drives but is still (stupidly) registered to me, owes a parking ticket. I checked the place and date and realised it was at a hotel he had been staying. I called the hotel, they confirmed he had stayed and while I was on the phone they did whatever it was they had to do to cancel the ticket. They told me it had all been taken care of.
A day ago, I received a letter from DRP about the same matter, so I quickly called them to inform them that the matter had been resolved and that they should check their records and maybe focus their efforts elsewhere. The woman was very aggressive, refused to listen to me and kept on insisting that she take the money from me there and then, which I obviously refused.
I have now by return received a letter telling me that because I communicated with them and stated I would not be paying the bill they would be taking be to court, because I have taken "an active and informed decision not to pay". This is ridiculous. I have done my job in sorting things out with the hotel, and furthermore done the decent thing and pointed out the error to DRP, and somehow that makes me even more in the wrong.
I really don't have the time to waste on this any more. Both calling them and the hotel on 0845 numbers racks up a huge telephone bill....any advice? Can I just ignore it?

please read the NEWBIES sticky thread thoroughly, it has a complete section on debt collectors like DRP, these debt collectors cannot take you or anyone else to court in these matters, only the creditor can do so (or the landowner in actual fact)0

You could always write back to DRP citing Arkell v Pressdram.0

Stop taking DRP seriously.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
