Hi all, has anyone had any dealings with the Remax brand of Estate Agents - good or bad?
Or has anybody worked for them.
Thanks.

Have had a few dealing with remax - we've sold one or two properties through them. It's like anything really - some branches are ok, others can't follow basic instructions. Same can be said of Haart, Halifax, Whitegates, Reeds rains etc etc.
Given the choice I would use a different estate agent before them, so they can't have left a very good impression on me!DFW #414, MoneySaver, Income Booster

I tried contacting Remax by email. I received an email from an arrogant little EA who is probably not qualified to clean my shoes.
Avoid! In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
Well, I can say good things for the office in the Glasgow suburb of Alexandria. I was trying to see properties on their web site, but the pages wouldn't load. So, I called the office and asked if they had anything suitable in my price range. They did not (which isn't surprising - we were looking for something very cheap.) But, the nice woman who answered told me that she'd look around and see if she knew of anything listed in the area. I asked, "You'll do that even if they're not listed with you?" She said, "As long as I can help somebody find a property, I'm happy." The next day, her husband called (they work together) and gave me advice. As I'm new to this country, there's a lot I didn't know. So, he invited us down to his office to talk. He explained everything to us, gave us advice on where to look, and even showed us a color-coded map to give an idea of what to expect to pay in each area. He then told me that when we found something, to give him a call and he'd give us advice. Oh, and he called a financial advisor he knew for information on mortgages for people with less-than-great credit.
That financial advisor has gotten us a mortgage lined up and has done a lot of hand-holding the whole time. The two of them have been available for me if I have questions.
I ended up finding something listed with another agent, and things are going well, so far.
I asked the ReMax agent, "Why are you helping us if you don't stand to make anything off it?" and he said, "Well, someday, you may be wealthy and want to sell your first home and buy something much bigger, and you'll remember me."
I must say he's right! I am very grateful to him for his help.
His name, btw, is Craig Cunningham. I'd advise anyone in the Glasgow area to talk to him.:beer:0 -
Thanks for that post Craig. A heartwarming tale.
You are the single rose amongst all the thorns.

My name isn't Craig. The ReMax EA is named Craig.

I have a posting history here. If you bother to look, you'll see that I'm a woman, with children, who has posted about starting her own cleaning business. Hardly an estate agent named "Craig.":beer:0 -
And if you bother to look, you'll see the smiley I inserted after my message.

Read over their contract very carefully - my friend used them and they didnt sell the house when other agents were selling close by properties all around them.
She decided to change agents after 3 months + 1 viewing only to be charged £300 + vat for marketing.
This fee is in the contract and stands regardless of the time concerned. You can never leave them!!
The new agent has several viewings booked.0 -
