Lesson 4 (for future reference) When dealing with the DVLA always do it online if possible given the DVLAs previous form for losing stuff. That way you don't have to send it in until you get the new one back

How about becoming a self employed cleaner with one client whom eventually decides your level of skill and attention is not up to scratch and requires a refund0

The reason to tell them is that it's fraud to claim if you've not done so, and reasonably likely to come out, meaning a criminal conviction, and an inability to get insurance in the future.0 -
What are your thoughts on what I said above? I mean, at what point do you stop needing to tell them? A day? Surely there's a point at which it becomes unreasonable...Not a good idea as there are a fair amount of Insurers who refuse to cover the unemployed. If you tried this on with them as a new customer and they discovered it which is not very difficult they would simply decline to pay your claim. That can cost you a serious amount of money if it's a car accident.
Even if the Insurers do accept the unemployed, if it's deemed you intentionally miss led the Insurer they can void the policy.
Take London Tigers advice if you want but they don't have a great history of giving good advice
'Hello Mr insurance broker, I'm ringing to tell you that I will be unemployed for the next 6 hours until I start my new job.'0 -
You could say you're a drug dealer. Those guys seem to drive beamers and Audi's. I bet they don't pay too much insurance

I think that's the exact reason insurance companies tend not to like unemployed people because they're more likely to be doing something like that if they're officially long term unemployed. Not that I look down on the genuinely unemployed but how many drug dealers have legitimate day jobs? You could say you're a drug dealer. Those guys seem to drive beamers and Audi's. Well, when you say legitimate? I used to know a kid who worked at McDonald's as well as dealing drugs. That said, part of the reason he worked at Maccies was so he could deal through the window on the drive through (genuinely no word of a lie there).
I'd just explain you're waiting for a new position and are actively seeking interviews, hell, you could say you're currently waiting on a callback from a job, or just !!!!!!!! it and say you've gone into full-time self-employed work.0 -

I did try, but my new address is a brand new address and it wouldn't recognise the postcode, and so wouldn't let me go onto the next step!! Computer said NO!!!!!0 -

I tried that as well; am possibly going to be offered a temp job starting Tuesday; not interested because I hadn't actually been offered the job and not their concern that I was scheduled an interview this morning.
Anyway, they rang me up this afternoon after I had written an email complaining about everything and as I have now been offered a job, they will reinstate me. Just have to pay an additional £150 for the adjustment in premium in moving!! a much better resolution although not ideal yet.....0 -

Oh please!! That's never gonna happen just because somebody didn't tell an insurer about a charge to their employment status.0
