Rbs ppi claim

Hi,
Posting on here as this is causing me a lot of stress as I am getting alot of conflicting information.
I have had an offer from RBS which I have accepted on a personal loan that my deceased husband had approx 12 years ago.
The 28 days expires on the 9th of May.
I have been in touch with them to find out how they will pay me as the loan account is obviously closed.
I have my own RBS current account which is with their credit services to pay off the overdraft. According to their advisors the money will be paid into this to pay off my debts.
What really concerns me is I also have a MINT card that needs paying off - currently have a payment arrangement on it. Can they use the PPI to clear this?
I have consulted with the Financial Ombudsman and they say they cannot do this as the PPI Policy was not connected with this account/card or myself, RBS are saying the opposite.
Help please, I am losing sleep over this.

Bank looks to be correct if you are in arrears or have defaulted.0 -
The op is not responsible for her Husbands debts, unless the redress is paid into a joint account.Your bank should let you know if it's going to extend that automatic right, such as moving money between organisations in their group, to/from an account held in joint names, or from business to private accounts.I have consulted with the Financial Ombudsman and they say they cannot do this as the PPI Policy was not connected with this account/card or myself, RBS are saying the opposite.
I would make a complaint to the Ombudsman personally.0 -

The husband is deceased. The PPI claim is an asset of his estate. The wife is presumably entitled to the proceeds of that claim as a beneficiary of that estate.Moneyineptitude wrote: »Offsetting rules here;

I don't whether it would be possible to argue that the estate of Mr X deceased (sole beneficiary Mrs X) is a different person from Mrs X.....I have my own RBS current account which is with their credit services to pay off the overdraft. I'm not sure why this matters?0 -
