Don't you have Labor unions for dentists that could speek up? You're telling me you could get "fired" from the NHS if you speak up? And you accept that? You're basically saying you are being blackmailed into silence, and no one resists? On what grounds would they be able to fire you? If you state facts and not just "ideas"... Like the number of patients on a list or the number you see per day? Just an example... If it's really the case, it is really sad. Your unions should call for strikes.
We are not employees so they would not "fire" us. They just would not contract us. Apart from being removed from gdc register for wrongdoing. On what ground - current NHS contract says everything that is needed fir dental health should be done on the NHS. Can not you see with no definition of "dental health" how one could be sued for breach of contract ? Even if one was exonerated at the end of it it would be a couple of years of dreadful stress , inability to change the job or sell the practice because you are under investigation , dealing with powers where nobody is on your side basically , there is no union representing dentists , there are just organizations that exist for castigating them ..The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. We are not made to see any particular number of patients ... It's just that out earnings would have to drop if we don't .. so hundreeds of thousands of pounds of investment for earning minimal wage - well, that's an option I supposeThe word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. What happens if a private dentist says NHS dentistry is not good? Does he get sued too? Or are we allowed to? Would he have problems with the GDC?0

Not sure. Don't think so. Public would been suspicious of him saying it though as they would have .thought he s driven by vested interest. Then again , if he says it to his patients then he would be preaching to already converted so not much point. Besides if he already has people through the door and they don't feel for themselves it is different to NHS then they are hardly going to believe him again. The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Yes and just looking at all the "friends" on this page, you see loads working in the NHS (hospitals and others) which does reveal a lot. Thanks for the link.0
