gambling 99% of the time is a cash advance, therefore you would accrue interest from day 1 and any cash advance fee, usually around 3%.

Yes. I can't understand why it should be, though. Do the CC card companies loose out on gambling transactions? I wouldn't have thought so.0 -

This isn't the point, gambling is treated as a cash advance, cash advances don't accrue miles/points on any card to my knowledge.
PayPal is treated as a purchase transaction afaik, so you could send yourself/family member cash using a CC, but you'll pay the PayPal fees on this which will exceed the value of any miles earned.0 -
