Best way to pay for Rhinoplasty Surgery - credit card or bank loan?

in Credit cards
Hello folks
Where to start...
Firstly I'm not in debt!
I would love rhinoplasty surgery (nose job) and I don't know whether to get a bank/medical loan or a credit card. At the same time I would like to go to university next (2015) year to become a nurse so my income will be limited.
I need some advice on how to manage money with a credit card.
I am currently working for a private hospital as a healthcare assistant, which is where I would get my rhinoplasty done, as both I and my mother who is a sister there are entitled to a 15% discount off all cosmetic and routine surgery.
I have had my first consultation with my surgeon, he is very kindly not charging me for the two consultations which would've amounted to £380 alone!
However I have done some workings out and with the discount, the cost of the surgery would come to £3,825 which is a nicer figure than £4000 something! He may yet take more money off the actual procedure, I will find out this Tuesday coming as that is when my second consultation is! This would be great!
I also know that I'm not going to get such a good deal anywhere else at any other time. So I definitely want to take this opportunity because I will always want my nose done. It has affected me SO much confidence wise. I would love to get it done before I go into nurse training, it would give my self esteem such a boost.
Please help guys, any bit of advice would be great.
Look forward to hearing from you!

My primary advice would be learn to love yourself; everyone is beautiful in their own way and I'm sure you don't need a rhinoplasty.
Anyone who is with you for your nose and not your personality is not worth being with.
My secondary advice would be, that if you're going to discount my primary advice, the best way to pay for the surgery is to put what you can afford into another bank account, any time you have spare cash.
This is called saving.
Then, when the balance in this other special account, that you only make deposits into, not withdrawals, reaches the amount required, you can go ahead and withdraw it to pay for the surgery.
But once you see how hard you had to work to save that money in the first place, you'll have second thoughts about withdrawing it for something like a Rhinoplasty.
Guarantee you.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

You too could have a nose like this
and all for just several £1000 of debt :money:0 -
Thank you izools for taking the time to read my thread and reply, however you have not actually answered my questions. Your reply is neither constructive nor humorous. I find it rather patronising actually. This is a serious thread and I would like some serious answers and/or advice. I certainly do not need people posting silly pictures or judging me on my decision to have Rhinoplasty surgery.
Thank you but no thankyou.0 -
When you ask about the best way - do you mean the cheapest way?
If so then that depends on various factors.
How much are you going to be able to afford off the £3800 or whatever debt a month?
Will you be able to repay the whole amount (plus interest) before you start Uni? If not then will you be able to afford the same debt repayments once you are at Uni?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Yes the cheapest way and to avoid paying interest. I know that you can get 0% interest cards for a certain amount of years. For example, use a credit card with 0% interest for 2 years then pay £63 a month which is what it would be. Then transfer the remaining amount onto another 0% interest card to avoid paying any interest at all
And at uni, because I would be studying for a career in the nhs, I will be eligible for a student loan and a bursary. Bursary I wouldn't have to pay back. It's over £4 grand a year. Nursing degree is 3 years. On top of student loan. However I would be living at home so would not have accommodation to pay for. Plus I could keep my HCA job at the hospital for extra shifts.0 -
Probably worth using the eligibility checker at https://creditcards.moneysavingexpert.com/?purchases to test the water as to how likely it is you'd be able to pick up any decent 0% cards, but you may need to be prepared for companies not being keen to offer the best deals to someone with a fairly low income and without much credit history (not being judgmental here, just realistic!)0

Well you are wrong about izools' answer, it is indeed constructive, saving is the way to pay for your surgery not going into debt. But if you don't want to listen what can we do?0

Agrinall, izools reply was not helpful thank you0
