Anyone on dla applied for pip?

Just wondered if anyone already on Dla has applied for pip and how long the process takes if you are already in receipt of Dla? is the claim process quicker or just the same as a new claim? My son had a letter to claim pip now he is 16 but he already receives Dla, just wondered if anyone knew the timescale on these applications. Many thanks. We phoned up last week and the form is being sent out.

My friend who is on long term sick rang to make changes to her dla. She has had to do a completely new claim for pip and although her dla won't stop before she is reassessed she has received an email saying her form has been received and could take up to 26 weeks.

On the other hand another friends adult son filed a new claim for pip (not on dla ) about 4 months ago and had a medical assessment at his home today

To a large degree, it doesn't matter.
The existing DLA award continues - and is extended until the PIP award is made (or refused).
If his award is at all borderline, it's worth gathering extra evidence now, to avoid a possible appeal.

It can be over 6 months - but as previous poster said you will continue to receive DLA at the current rate until any PIP award has been decided.
