Only you can make that decision but it would seem wise. I think you need to seriously consider that they may sack you to make na example of you to the other staff.
It maybe that its only worth 1p a bag but if you and many other Sainsbury's staff are doing this then it all adds up."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
Recently I have been suspended due to 'Gross Misconduct' from sainsburys due to me giving out unearned nectar points for wrong bag reuse? Anyway, i'm thinking that its because I give people a bag point for not using one of our bags when I should only be giving out points if they bring their own bag in to reuse? But I don't see the difference in someone bringing their own shopping bag to get a point compared to me giving them a point for someone putting their shopping in their handbag?
Its currently being investigated and I will be contacted for a meeting, but don't know when. I have not been told any information by my manager about this accusation so am just guessing that this is the reason because its the only thing I can think of. Im also on full pay until further notice but im scared that they could fire me over this?
I think its a bit extreme just over some bag points which equal 1p but maybe its what they have to do?
Can anyone help?
Irrespective of your own thoughts on the matter, what were you actually instructed to do? You obviously had instruction.
As I understand it, there's a whole section on the induction course about nectar points, and it's explained that deliberate abuse of the system may lead to instant dismissal of the employee.
To be fair, you sound a little like that kid on BBC3 who had a job in a garden centre. I day 1 he was supposed to price some items up, so askled the price of a certain item. His mentor said she didn't know either so would go and look on the system for him.
She came back later having checked the system and said the items were to be priced at £5.99 each. Leaving out the swear words, of which there were some despite a rule of no swearing on the shop floor, he said no way is it worth that much and that he'd already priced the items. When asked how he priced the items when he didn't know the price, he siad he'd marked them up as a quid because that was all he thought they were worth.
If it helps, and you probably know this working in Sainsburys, their self serve tills simply ask "Did you use any of your own bags?" i.e. no mention of what type of bag. I know sometimes it needs an employee over-ride to approve it, but usually not if only a small qty is entered.0 -
... But honestly I have no idea on what exactly it is about as I haven't been told
Im basically just waiting for a phonecall so I can ask every question possible!
Surely when you were told you were suspended, you asked why?
Assuming they didn't tell you anyway, which they ought to do.

When I was suspended I wasn't even told what it was about until my first meeting with HR. You will be called to a meeting given the facts and then given time (at least 7 days) to compile your response. They may decide to settle it there and then or call you back to another meeting.
It would be wise to look for another job unless you can afford to be unemployed if the worse case scenario happens.
It worked out in my favour. My disciplinary was ruled not valid but all the time suspended I had been looking for another job I found one paying about £20k more than I was on! Best thing that happened to me as I would have probably still been there otherwise0 -

I alluded to a procedural breach, nothing more.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
With some of us, it's hard to know what's a bag and what's a handbag and what's a shopping bag. I expect to get a point if I don't use a new carrier bag. I don't expect the person on the till to analyse where my shopping is going. Some of it might even go in my pocket!Signature removed for peace of mind0

Comparing the Op to a child? You are a moron0 -
If that really is their policy then I'm guilty of it too, if I use the self service tills, which I usually do, and put some of my shopping into a rucksack, then I would count that as a bag when the screen asks me how many of my own bags I've used.
I can't believe Sainsbury's are being so !!!!!y about this - unbelievable. I'd kick up such a stink about it if it were me…….0
