Grants for bathroom change

My father is 81 and has a lot of trouble getting about,

The OT has been and said he needs the bathroom changed for better access,

they are on about taking the bath out which is fine and putting in a large shower,

Can he get a grant if so who to contact(we are in Kent)

and can he have any say in the alterations as some of the things they suggested he is set against,

any help appreciated posted here or PMd

if the OT said he needed his bathroom changed s/he should also help you apply for a disabled facilities grant.

as you can see his contribution depends on your income.
also worth noting that you can only apply once every decade or so - so if there is other work that must be done relating to his disability it is worthwhile having it all on one grant application.

if your OT is not available it is the local council (social services) who deal with these.

I am in Kent and last year I needed help with adapting my house. The OT recomended a Stairlift and a walk in bathroom.....total cost 14k and we got full help.

Contact your local Social Services and ask for an OT to visit.

DFG's are great - but the work can often take ages to be assessed, confirmed and carried out.
