Last Xmas I got my Dad a cheapo DVD player and a selection of DVDs which came free with the newspapers. I just collected them up over a few months so he had a nice little stack of them to watch. He didn't mind that they were promotional ones and that way he got far more than what I'd normally be able to get for my money.Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0

Any big blockbusters are ususally a safe bet, or a lot of the animated films like Shrek or Madagascar etc.
Do not always assume that middle aged women like mushy films. My mum is in her 60s and my brotehrs often tend to buy her romance films, which she hates (she LOATHEd The Engtlish patient). She really loves sci-fi films (her favourite is The Fifth Element) and films like that.
See if you can get an idea of the TV shows she likes best and use that as a guide.0 -
You could always try some of these:
The Queen
Cold Feet
21 Grams
Angela's Ashes
50 First Dates
28 Days Later
Breakfast at Tiffany's
It's a Wonderful Life
Far and Away
Forrest Gump
Pearl Harbour
My Best Friends Wedding
Father of the Bride
Pretty Woman
The Notebook
The Green Mile
The Shawshank Redemption
The Pursuit of Happyness
Walk the Line
Hope she finds something she likes!

I'm pretty sure she'd like Calender Girls, it's very funny.
A sub to Lovefilm or similar would be ideal, I'd have thought.0
