I can't eat banana, hate nuts and am not keen about vine fruits (unless fresh grapes).

I do like the taste of freeze dried red fruits and loved Special K red fruits, before they changed the recipe to horrid oversweet stuff. I now use the cheaper Tesco variety, but am not over impressed by their cereal, so fancied something like Weetabix (can't eat oats as the texture makes me heave) with my own added fruit.

No problem at this time of year, but strawberries are very expensive (and tasteless imports) during winter, so can anyone tell me what volume 100g of freeze dried red fruit takes up ?

Freeze drying reduces the weight a lot , but only very slightly reduces volume. So if you know that 100g of freeze dried is equivalent of 1Kg fresh , then volume will be around the same as 1Kg of fresh

Have you considered buying a dehydrator? Might be cheaper in the long run.

Farmfoods frozen summer fruits are the best value around. 3 x 454 gm bags for £2. A good size portion goes on my porridge every morning.

The nicest we've had this year were £2 British grown, reduced to £1.09 in Tesco. There aren't many for £2 , though.

There was a newspaper article on dehydrators, which suggested they were not a good idea, as processing to produce just a tiny amount (1:10 compared with fresh), takes a very long time, thus taking up space, the end product was not often good and considerable outlay for equipment was needed.

The 'helpful' company has now replied saying that,'... As [you] can see, a packet fills a breakfast bowl.' ...But how big a breakfast bowl ? Why can't they just answer by quoting an average number of mls ?

£2.99 postage is always a killer.
Since they are dried not fresh separate postage is hardly an issue. Why would one want to not be able to buy a full range of different items because the price of each item is stupidly uncompetitive because it includes a contribution to postage?

Okay if you only want to buy something once a year for Christmas - but for items needed all year round it is short-sighted to not want a postage charge - especially on small items - surely it is better to have the option of buying a range of 100g packs at a sensible price instead of having to buy 1kg or 3kg of a single item with 'free' postage.

Cereal bowls come with dinner sets, surely you have one? They're all pretty much the same size.
