Cost of painting a room

Hi,


We've decided to redecorate our living room and landing , so not knowing any decorators in the area we picked 3 from checkatrade. They came and gave us estimates, but the figures are SO different that I'm really confused!!


For example one asked for £355 for the whole room (walls & ceiling, doors and skirting board), while the other asked for more than double for exactly the same work! (none of them will provide the paint). Quotes for the landing are even more different, the expensive one being 3 times more.


I can't understand why there's such a difference??

Take a weekend and do it yourself! Much more satisfying knowing you've done it, and you'll save a few hundred quid to boot!

Thanks, but we want a wall in a different colour in the living room and this is quite difficult to get 100% right, also the landing has very high ceilings that we won't be able to do ourselves.


I've always painted my houses but this time I want to have it properly done..
