What is this Portmeirion of which you speak, I have never heard of it.

It's basically crockery for your nan. Twee floral patterns that were fashionable in the 40s and 50s. If you have one of those tartan shopping trolleys or wear an anorak then it'll be right up your street.

    Ouch!...that's harsh.
Your comment about the patterns being twee is your subjective opinion and as such very little can be said against it. However your generalisation that purchasers of Portmeirion are grandmothers who wear anoraks and push tartan shopping trollies around is neither subjective nor objective and so I have to wonder what was your reason in making such a post?

    I've been Money Tipped!
My order arrived on Weds, it arrived safely and it is lovely stuff.

Nicely made and I know it will wear well. Not to everyone's taste I know but if you do like the range then as DigForVictory says the sale is wicked temptation which I for one was not able to resist.

Especially pleased with the vase and sandwich tray which both have a lovely sweetpea design.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Thanks OP - just received two beautiful vases costing £8 and £10! You can tell they are seconds as they have a few dark lines on them, but only if you look closely.

Are you sure that's not the black marker pen they use to show they are seconds? They wipe off.

No, it's marks in the glaze (I tried rubbing it off!). Hairline marks, so not that visible.
  • Dear All

Im so so so upset, I missed it this time, as I dont know how the system of the seconds items are being sold online.. I only found it out today,, so I missed it completely. :-( so may I ask you all, does the shop do this "big" sales once a year? ,so it means I have to wait for next year? So, if it is yearly sale, normally, when do they promote the sale? 1st year of May??? Please advice. thanks

Since Im not in the UK now, I have been back to my country (HK), so its very difficult for me to go the their seconds retail shops, I can only order them online, then ask my relatives bring them back for me.

Thanks for all your advice in advance

    Carol
