Be careful with this software - it affected my AOL sttings and I had to reinstall AOL.

I uninstalled System Mechanic and then reinstalled in case it was my mistake but it still mucked about with my settings and I had to use system restore.

Now I have ditched it altogether - BE CAREFUL.

AOL screws computers beyond repair - there are claims aplenty in the US over this - maybe it was AOL that was the issue not SM.

In fairness one should exercise caution with SM as it is a powerful tool

To be honest I cannot understand why anyone is using AOL. I may be wrong and please tell me off if I am but I tried it once and it took over my PC so much it was scary. I would NEVER use AOL again. I much prefer to be able to adjust my settings as and when I wish and AOL does not allow that.

i have use aol on and off for years and it does create problems for installing other software at times. i have never liked their software and even a recent aol sf upgrade messed up the independant dialer so i had to go back to connecting through the aol browser again which HOGS memory.

But if you do a complete software reinstall after wiping hard drive you shouldnt have any problems its just when you open and close files over time they too can create problems especially if you dont do full maintenance regularly.

Its just a question of the "state" of your computer on how healthy it is.

my aol dialer is still messed up but i'm not going to bother reinstalling as aol browser works fine with system mechanic.
