"Free" Cavity Wall Insulation - legit??

Hey up guys,
While I was out at work today, the Other Half was home alone. When I got back, he told me that some company had called offering free CWI. He told them we were already insulated (this is what I had been told by British Gas when we wanted a quote for CWI Last year)...
So the guy from this company offered to check, which my OH took him up on. Apparently he drilled into the brick outside, and showed my OH that it was empty, so we're not insulated (TBH I shouldn't have just taken Britisg Gas's word for that last year, they just checked by "consulting their records"!)
So they said they are doing all the houses on our estate for free as there is a "pot of money somewhere or something" (my OH's words); the guy will be coming back on Friday May 9th to do an EPC and take it from there...
Is this legit? Why would they offer to do it for free? Am I overly cynical?
The company is "Green Planet Energy" according to the paperwork they left with him.
What do you think...? I'd love CWI, but want it done properly...
Thank you!

There's tons of homes in my area getting it done or have just had it done...including my home
Government grants so take while you can0 -
It may well be one of the ECO (Energy Companies Obligation) funded installation. ECO was set up for low income and houses in certain postcodes however there was not enough uptake and the energy companies get fined. To combat this the energy companies have been rolling it out to everyone. There was a article about it in one of the MSE newsletters a few weeks ago.
I know nothing about the company you have mentioned so its worth finding out if its being covered by ECO or another schemeSome people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0 -

You won`t love it if you end up with damp and condensation problems.

Good Lord... that's rather offputting isn't it! In fact it's rather put me off!0 -
I was talking to someone at the door about this and my neighbour (other half of my red brick post war semi) came out and asked how much it cost to have CWI removed. Apparently he had his done and since then has had so much damp/condensation that he has a de-humidifier on constantly!
I then went online to check it out and found the same article posted earlier...i will not be having CWI...0
