I have a requirement which is baffling me a bit....

I want to configure a gmail inbox so that it forwards all messages received to another address. That bit is easy!
However, I don't want the original sender's address to appear as the default reply address in the forwarded message. I just want the gmail address. That is because I don't want the recipient to be able to reply by mistake from the address receiving the forwarded message. I basically want them to know on their main email account that there is a new message on the gmail account, and if it warrants a reply, they should log on to gmail to send it from the gmail address.

Anyone any ideas how to do that???

I doubt you can change the sender using gmail's forwarding (because its automatic). Using exchange (or always on outlook client for example) you could programatically change the headers.

Can't see a way to send the message as an attachment either.
The recipient uses Outlook (just for POP/IMAP, not Exchange), I just don't want them to be able to accidentally reply from their other address, otherwise they could just have an Outlook account for the gmail address.

What about if you setup the gmail account so you can send as the other account, this is in the settings, accounts section.

Enter the other email address, gmail will send it a verification email which you then confirm from your account.
Then you set it up as an alias.

    See https://support.google.com/a/answer/1710338?ctx=gmail&hl=en-GB&authuser=0&rd=1

Edit: Strike that - that's what you do if you DO want the original email address as the reply to.

In the accounts section, select the "Always reply from default address " radio button.
This puts the gmail address in the reply field.

Outlook can't do that. Maybe gmail can, but that would defeat the purpose of having a main email account and a completely separate gmail one for other purposes.
Looks like I'll just have to say that they'll only know if there's a message in the gmail account by logging in and checking it.

    Thanks anyway.

    Where did you mention Outlook?

Is this the pro version as used in a company or express?

It's not Outlook Express, but Outlook as part of MS Office (probably 2007, but not sure on that).
