Shipping Companies - UK to Spain

Options
Hello,

I need to ship my belongings to Malaga, Spain in the next 4 weeks from London, UK.

I have approx 8 medium shipping boxes, 4 suitcases, a flat-screen TV, a rug. I am in no rush for them to be delivered, but I do want them to arrive safely.

I have contacted some shipping companies and had quotes of up to £1,000 (incl VAT).

Would anyone know if this is a reasonable price, or even have experience of good shipping companies which they could recommend, please.

Thank you.

There are companies, mainly one man bands who offer this service on a weekly basis. You usually see them advertised in he local weekly papers in resorts.

Have you tried http://www.shiply.com/ ? I got a good price for having a car shipped from France via that site.

    Hello,

Thank you both for your help. I will get quotes from all of them.

However, I was warned against using the "one man bands" as they are not insured for breakage or loss. None of my stuff is valuable, but I have some sentimental items which are irreplaceable.

Does anyone have any experience of trustworthy independents, please?

    Thank you.

With shiply you will probably get quotes from a range of providers, from "one man bands" to more substantial outfits, and they should give details of the insurance cover they have. There is also ebay-style feedback from previous clients.

As long as they are properly boxed you can send them with carriers cheaply using road services. 25kg in a large box should be around 25-30 Pounds.

Try putting weights and sizes in

    www.pharosparcel.com/
    or
    http://www.parcel2go.com/

Insurance will be a problem especially for the TV. Sentimental items you need to take there yourself - if they are not excluded from insurance they would only be covered for their resale value.

I often send things to Spain and other European countries uninsured as they are breakable. I pack it very well and stick to reliable companies like UPS (which Pharos uses) and is usually amongst the choices with P2G.
