I have just bought some Ram memory for a pc at work but the machine is totally ignoring it! The motherboard takes PC3200 DDR 400MHz according to Crucial. The memory I have bought is as above but also ECC is this my problem? Is there anything I can do?

Hi BarGin,
I would think this probably answers your question:

Did you you buy it from Crucial? They are pretty good on returning stuff.
Anyway, if you had it delivered less than seven days ago you should be able to return it under the Distance Selling Regs.
Good luck,

Thank you Frank but that is not what I wanted to hear. I bought the ram off eBay.

Have you run crucial's system scanner to confirm what is and isn't compatible with your motherboard?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Yes that's how I got the PC3200 400MHz bit. I didn't realise that ECC would give me problems. I have used non-ECC in an ECC motherboard in the past without problems. I shall know in future.

Well we live and learn, I'm no expert but I've always thought that ECC ram was very picky and you have to make absolutely sure the motherboard will run it whereas non-ecc is far more compatible and has less issues. If you can't return it there's nothing stopping you from selling it yourself on Ebay."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
