Wow now I know why trolls exist !0

But you aren't carrying an extra 50kg. You'd only be doing that if you filled up again after every trip. On average, of you fill p and run it to nearly empty, you are carrying 25kg. Assuming you aren't currently running it on fumes, that's a 20kg difference, not 50kg.
If you want to try to be anal about costs, you can't afford to be this sloppy with your calculations.
On which point, how much does your wife weigh? I save money by being married to a lady who's size six.0 -
So, I've shaved my head, washed the dirt from under my finger nails, had a big dump, only put one sock on and polished my front bumper, head lights, bonnet, wing mirrors and leading edge of the roof..
Will that be enough to get me from 38.4 to 38.9mpg?0 -
Blimey, two pages now and I answered the question on post number 2.
Carry on.0 -
I really wish we wouldn't use this crazy mix of units. Yes, its easy enough to calculate, but how many people bother? mpg means nothing because we don't buy fuel in gallons.
mpl would make sense but is also stupid. About time we changed over to kilometres like the rest of the world.
We're creating generations of people who are illiterate in measurement because they don't fully understand either system. Hugely irresponsible of the governments to allow this to have happened.
Yup - I agree - we started the changeover in the early 70's, and lord knows when we are going to finish with this stupid mix of units.
It's all very well that some folks say that it will confuse the elderly - but we have a generation now in their 40s that never used feet, pounds, or miles at school.
I do all my fuel consumption reckoning in l/100kms and it's easy.
Our friends across the Irish sea have no problems as far as I can see, on my occasional visits.
You still buy a pint of Guinness in Dublin, never mind that it's really 568.261485 millilitres and costs around €3.50. LOL0 -
Obviously it will confuse some, but betetr to cause confusion for a few months than for a few generations!
3.50 euros for a pint in Dublin? you'll be lucky....0 -

I'm 43, and utterly "bilingual" between metric and Dibnah. But, yes, you're right that it's weird the way we mix the system we'd pick for any description. I drink pints of draught beer but 500ml bottles. I'm 6'2", but measure in millimetres. I'm 14.5st and wear 34/32 trousers, but buy cheese by the 500kg. I drive cars with kph-only speedos quite happily, but would always say something's a couple of miles away.I do all my fuel consumption reckoning in l/100kms and it's easy.
But _THAT_ breaks my head... It's wierd, because in so many ways it's far more logical. Heck, it answers the OP's question - how much will I use to get from A to B - right off the bat...0 -
