Mortgage PPI Northern Rock

I had a mortgage with Northern Rock (2005 - 2009) and have only just realised that I could probably raise a PPI claim on this as we were paying for Income Protection through an insurance company arranged by the estate agents.
Would I likely have a case here? Is Income Protection on a mortgage classed as PPI as it is needed to obtain a mortgage?

Nothing you have said suggests you have.s Income Protection on a mortgage classed as PPI as it is needed to obtain a mortgage?
No. PPI is PPI. Products that are not PPI are not PPI.
Many mortgage brokers require the purchase of insurance to allow them to offer free mortgage advice. As long as the insurance is suitable then that pricing method is allowed.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. Thanks, I have checked the initial paperwork and on the additional unsecured loan we took we didnt take PPI and the income protection on the secured loan was indeed compulsary to being offered the mortgage.0

Income protection is not the same as PPI. Also, if it genuinely was a condition of the mortgage offer imposed by the lender then they are entitled to do that. So long as you are given a choice of getting it through your own insurer.0
