New Kitten: Games to play & flea treatment

Hi, I am looking for advice about 2 things:

Fun things to do with your kitten/cat!

Defleaing a kitten

I love to play with my new kitten, though I'm sad the owner wouldn't wait longer before giving him to me (6wks) he adjusted really well. I just wanted to know what different games you play with your kitten/cat, I like to change things up so he doesn't (and I don't) get bored. There's the wand toy and general chasing stuff, there's the laser dot, the pull string under the door and play a gentle tug of war, there's a box with holes I put him in and poke stuff through, there's rough housing with my gardening glove, sometimes chase, what else could I play?

Yes, while combing him I saw a flea on his belly! But the vets say I can't deflea him until 9-12 wks, I feel really bad that he has to go 2 whole weeks suffering with fleas, is there anything safe I can do to get rid of the fleas until then? Can anyone advise flea treatment for the house?

You can treat the house with a spray such as Indorex (great stuff, although there are others too), just make sure the baby is out of the house and you let the place 'air' for a few hours before letting him back in. Make sure to get in all the corners of skirting, and hoover before you do it to encourage the fleas to emerge from their eggs. Repeat in a couple of weeks time, a fleas life cycle is around 14 days.

Wash bedding on hot, and you can use a flea comb on your little one for now. Unfortunately the flea treatment is quite harsh, so you really can't use any on them until they're about 8 weeks old :( hopefully by treating any areas the eggs can hatch, and removing actual fleas from the kitten, will be enough for now.

If you go to the vet they can flea treat baby kittens. I had my puppy done at 7 weeks and it cost £8.

Try giving your kitten a ball made from tin foil....so much fun!
