Car Insurance extras - personal accident cover etc.

Options
Hi there, I hope this isn't the wrong part of the forum to post this but I need some help.

When I took out some car insurance with AA in 2001 they also gave me a personal accident insurance which I must have accepted. It was for £5.09 and was paid to Zurich who I also have a pension with and after a year or so I assumed this payment had something to do with my pension and forgot about it.

I recently checked my bank statement and found another £4 insurance payment to Avon. So I managed to track down a phone number for them and cancel this policy which was added when I took out YES car insurance a couple of years ago (they give you the first 3 months free and charge you after that). Unfortunately I have moved a few times and never received any information regarding these payments.

Ok so I should have really been on top of payments coming out of my bank account but sometimes you don't see the wood for the trees, especially if they are regular payments.

Anyway, so I've paid £780 for Zurich which I've not used or needed and about another £60 for something from YES/Avon which I never even used or needed.

So it's a long shot I know but is there any way to get any of this back? DOH!

Many thanks,
Paul

On what basis do you think you should have it back?

There has to be some wrongdoing by the seller but nothing you have said suggests there is. So, what do you think there is?

Can I have a refund on the chicken I forgot about in the back of the fridge?

It's easy to say in hindsight you didnt need it, but insurance is to cover unforseen events. If you had an accident in that time and claimed on it you would have needed it.

If you didnt need it why did you take it out? You've also had the benefit of being covered by the plan for 13 years.

I would imagine the only way you would get a refund is if you no longer had a car and only then you would be relying upon their goodwill for a refund.

Forgetting about insurance isnt a reason for a refund, its your policy and is your responsibility to cancel it. I dont think your reasons are credible, let alone no fault of Zurich or Avon.
