PPI claiming newbie looking for some brief advice please?

Options
Hi All,

I wondered if someone could please give me some brief advice regarding whether I have a PPI claim and where I should start?

My wife and I took out our first mortgage back in 1998 when we were naïve twenty somethings and I'm pretty sure that we were mis-sold PPI. We took out a mortgage with Halifax through a mortgage agent and we had an endowment policy with Legal & General (which we are still paying) so I'm not sure who we should direct the claim at?

I have some paperwork with policy numbers etc and if I remember correctly back then we were paying the interest on the mortgage to Halifax, the Endowment policy to Legal & General and at least one (if not two) separate payments to Legal & General also. I'm embarrassed to admit now that we just paid it without really knowing what or why it all was! :embarasse

Any advice at where to start would be most welcome.

Thanks!

It doesn't sound as if you even had PPI...

Who is the policy provider of the MPPI, how much is the monthly payment and how was it mis-sold?

The endowment has nothing to do with it. Your allegation is that an MPPI policy was mis-sold by the agent. However, in your post you do not identify an MPPI policy. So, first issue is that you appear to be saying you were mis-sold a policy that you were not sold.

Second issue is that that you bought 7 years prior to insurance regulation. Most mortgage brokers/advisers did not become regulated until January 2005. So, those can reject the complaint without even considering its merits.

Before you put in a complaint which can cause anguish and distress to the mortgage adviser as well as potentially blacklist you locally (for putting in a fraudulent complaint - small local firms often share info on people who are trying it on) you need to get your facts right.
