New house, 10 mnths no bill, can we swap?

Options
Hello!
We moved in to a new house 10 months ago. We have sent pics of our meters, waited in ALL DAY several times, actually had the engineer man in to read our meter-6 months ago, sent updates, sent readings, sent emails to CEO, complaints, named account managers, spoken to them tens of times yada yada and STILL have no bill! They say the meters are all mixed up.

EDF are beyond a joke.
Can we change suppliers backdated? Ie give a new supplier our reading from June and get them to bill us?
Or do we have to wait and wait for EDF to sort themselves out?

They are driving me MAD. (Waited in all day yesterday too).
any advice is welcome :)

You cannot backdate a switch and trying to change suppliers with the meter serials in dispute will only end in tears. As long as you have the meter serials and opening reads it is easy to keep on top of how much you are using and put the money to one side when the bill is eventually produced.

Stop using the telephone, do everything in writing, raise it as an official dispute (in writing) and escalate to the ombudsman after 8 weeks. I hope you have been keeping a diary of missed appointments for compensation purposes.

If you have documented evidence you have tried to contact them, I wouldn't bother to contact them any more.

In your case they can only backdate(back bill) bills for 12 months under the billing code.

So after 12 months your gas/electricity will be 'free'. i.e. if EDF raise a bill in, say, September this year, they can only backdate to September 2013.

welcome to the world of newbuild, you will trigure a bill as soon as you leave unless a bill block is on your account.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    ...EDF are beyond a joke.
    ...

Just switched from EDF after 18 months as a very happy customer on a very cheap tariff :)

Only switched because they are not as cheap as they used to be, sadly.

Did you not verify the meter details and readings with the builder on handover day and have them recorded in the welcome pack?

Yes we had all readings taken on moving day (which I checked) along with full meter info. However EDF had it all wrong.

I actually used to work for EDF, back when it was called Seeboard!!!:rotfl:

Its easy to be a happy customer...until something goes wrong or needs more than one brain cell to sort out. The issue is these companies train people to be able to do one thing, not to actually take ownership of a problem and sort it out from beginning to end. It goes from one faceless dept to another.
