reclaiming old bank charges

hi , newbie here ,
iv'e been reading you can still claim bank charges if you were in financial hardship because of them , the time period was 2000 - 2006 , at the time i was claiming incapacity benefit as i was on the sick with depression , iv'e calculated that in that time i must have paid about £5000 in charges , also the account i had was a barclays additions account which i was paying for aswell at the time , im fine now , managed to sort myself out , i was just wondering if there was any point in trying to reclaim now after all this time , any help gratefully appreciated .

No. You have misunderstood a word. It is not "were" but "are". If you are currently in financial hardship. it is not historic hardship.
