Lights. If the bulbs work, does the car pass?

If the glass lamp cover / lense has a hole in it (half inch diameter) would that be an MOT fail?

    d. are in good condition Note: An effective proprietary repair (e.g. lens repair tape etc.) must be assessed on its merits, considering security, colour, light output and durability.
    e. show light of the correct colour

It depends on thelight in question.

If it's a front sidelight then it should be ok if there are no sharp edges - clear lens tape can be used to cover it.

If it's a coloured light (indicators / rear sides / brakes) then it'll fail if it shows white light or has sharp edges. Coloured lens tape is available

If it's a headlight it'll fail if the hole upsets the beam pattern or it has sharp edges. Lens tape won't correct a faulty beam pattern

Fail probably on the grounds of condition and colour.

That's what I thought, though owner tells me it passed a year ago....

It's a rear light & does show a bit of white.

I love it when people say "it passed like that last year"......

My answer is always, "you were lucky last year, this year, not so lucky"
