Which prepay credit card is best for buying from china?

Hi.
First of all, thankyou for taking the time to read this & I hope you can help.
After spending a few year off & on looking up & reading about buying from china, & reading all about the unfortunate people who have been scammed due to the high amount of people new to this unfortunately falling at the 1st hurdle, I have finally took the plunge & made the first move (for an online shop)
I hit my 1st little hurdle & after asking around for advice, have been advised to make purchases using a prepaid credit card & only top it up when I need to make each payment.
While this does not stop people getting scammed it does seem a good option.
Anyway I'll get to the point.
I would like to know from the expert members here who will be a bit more clued up than me, which prepay credit card is in their opinion going to be the best one I should go for?
The card will not be used for any other use than buying from Chinese wholesalers.

And one other thing.
As the point of this card is to avoid the chances of my security details be compromised, & someone can going on a massive spending spree at my expense.
Trouble is, I have just read a thread where someone appears to have had funds taken that weren't available causing a negative balance?
Once again thankyou for taking the time to read this & I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Regards
Jack

    Yeah thanks for the link.

I seen that, & I'm a fit of a........????? well lets just say that if I need something, I wait until I have the money then go out & buy it, so wont entertain credit cards or debt (except my mortgage), so even with a prepay one, I'm a bit of a card virgin, so was hoping that the much more savvy, clued up people here would advise as to which one (In their opinion) would be the best one for my particular circumstances.

I was also hoping for a little input on the question asked regarding being able to go into a negative balance on them
    Regards

I wouldn't use a prepaid card to buy from china, that's just my personal view. You aren't covered under section 75 if anything goes wrong.

You can exceed a limit on a credit card but its not possible on a prepaid card.

What are you buying ? If it's designer goods, don't.

Reportedly, this does happen sometimes, and the T&C normally confirm that it's possible.
I randomly checked one of the cards from MSE article:
In the unlikely event that the balance on your Card drops below zero (0), you agree to reload the Card to bring the balance back to zero (0) or above, within thirty (30) days of request, and pay the applicable negative balance fee

    Thanks for the comments guys.
There are a couple of reasons that its best to use a prepaid card which is why I asked which would be the best to use for making purchases from Chinese Wholesalers.
It Wont be used to buy "Branded" products no.
As I'm new to making purchases from China directly myself, I have spent a Long time reading & looking up various stuff.

(Quick message to anyone reading this thread & considering doing the same as me. DONT buy any Branded product from Chinese wholesalers, there's around a 99% chance that it will be fake & YOU will lose. The manufacturers usually sell direct, & only sell to Big companies with Big buying power, & in much larger quantities than you ever could)

    Anyway.
    Back on track.
If anyone else can recommend a card for my circumstances, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Regards
    Jack

TBH with the wealth of knowledge from the threads I have browsed on here, I thought there would have been a few recommendations by now, but it could be that I just happen to post at the wrong times, for the thread to be noticed

Prepaid cards are very much a minority pursuit and were themselves regarded with a great deal of suspicion. The only time I have had one was as a cashback deal from Vauxhall.

I'm not sure what would make one of them 'better' either. They are all going to want to make money and they are all going to want their money back if a Chinese supplier manages to go over the limit on the card.

There used to be talk of one-off credit card numbers for use online, but I haven't heard of them for sometime either. They were certainly piloted but I don't remember who by.

They were piloted by Neteller and Cahoot(?). Neither does them now.

  • Prepaid cards about the same as sending cash to a bank account in a country half way round the world to someone you've never met. Be prepared that your purchase never arrives and be prepared for no recourse, i.e. don't spend more on this venture than you'd put on a horse
