Yesterday, I ordered the purple pleated touch lamp at half price (£4) and order was confirmed. A few hours later, the order was cancelled as out of stock. OK, that's fine I thought, it must be popular.....
BUT today, I noticed that the exact lamp has gone back up to £8 and stock was available as I had put one in my basket to test it.
So basically, it isn't OOS, just that Asda didn't want to sell it to me at £4.
Tried calling Asda Direct to ask them about this but was kept on hold for a good 20 minutes, I gave up in the end. The automated voice says 'Your call is important to us, please hold...', Obviously that is not true!
Vent over.

They may have had a deal from the supplier for a certain quantity at half price. Once those ran out, it went back to full.
They may have mispriced it.
Either way, they don't have to sell you anything at any price, and equally you don't have to buy from them again.
The only thing you've gained from this is the knowledge that you thoroughly wasted over half an hour of your life on a potential purchase of a £4 lamp.0 -
I had a similar incident with a Dualit toaster from M&S. It was on offer on their website, with 20% off as part of a promotion. I ordered it on the Sunday, but then received an e-mail from them on the Monday, explaining that it had gone out of stock and my order was cancelled.
I then had a look at the M&S website and the toaster was showing as back in stock at the full price. I rang them up to say I was unhappy and asked them to sell me the toaster at the original promotional price, as it had come back into stock almost as soon as they had cancelled my order. Anyway, they agreed to sell me a toaster at the promotional price and even sent it to my home, free of charge, rather than a store pick up.
I know this is just one retailer, but it proves that it's always worth holding out to speak to the company concerned to see if they'll at least meet you half way. I always find that if I complain politely and constructively, I nearly always get the outcome I'm seeking.0 -
My partner had the same issue when he reserved a mower online with b&q he reserved it in the morning on Sunday then at 4 pm on the same day the store rang and said sorry we have not got one. The annoying bit is they were still showing in stock for a few days but he got told that was because some were on order???? Bet they have stock when the price goes back up!!!!0

B&Q click and collect is a waste of time, staff merely go out onto shop floor and pick the item up and put it aside for you, problem is they don't do it when you order so items sell out before they get round to doing it, and of course some items are already sold out instore but site not updated. As for Asda has anyone else had a problem with 'sale' orders going missing in transit? Despatched by courier but shop just can't find my parcel. Same thing happened in Tesco with a sale bike, got email saying it was ready for collection, then they couldn't find it!0
