Eharmony auto renewal scam - help!

I need some advice please.....
I took a three month subscription to Eharmony in January/Feb time. I didn't have any luck with it (surprise surprise) so decided not to use it after about a month. When I initially took the subscription out, I only wanted to pay for and be committed to three months, so I checked on my billing page and made 100% sure that the option for "auto renewal" was NOT ticked.
Imagine my dismay when yesterday I get an email from Paypal to say that Eharmony had taken another payment for another three months, even though I did not authorise this!
Straight away I went onto my account and cancelled this option - but please be aware that this option wasn't available initially???? I emailed and spoke to them today but they are digging their heels in saying that I didn't cancel this faciliity and they won't give me a refund.
I am in huge dispute with them about this and have asked for this to be escalated. I've left it with them to transfer to the "trust and service team"??? but basically I want to know where I stand legally as I will not let this drop!
Any help or advice, greatly received...

These two pars of your post seem to contradict. What is it that wasn't available initially?0 -
Agree with Mike. It sounds like once you noticed the error, then you cancelled it.
In terms of legal standing, I would guess you dont have much in the ways of rights as you cant prove you 'unticked' the auto renew box and they do 'clearly' state that auto renew does apply when you sign up! Sorry!0
