MBNA Platinum balance transfer issue- 16 months instead of 30

I was recently accepted for a MBNA Platinum card and transfered a balance from a previous card.

The duration of the balance transfer is quoted on their website as 30 months at 0%. There are no further disclaimers regarding additional terms and conditions pertaining to the 30 months.

Upon opening the account I noticed the promotional rate of 0% was only untli Aug 2015 (16 months instead of 30). I thought this may have been an error and sent an internal message from their website clarifying the problem.

They have confirmed that the 0% rate is only for 16 months and not the advertised 30 months.

I'm quite dissapointed because this card is no longer so appealing. Any ideas? Should I put in a formal complaint.

I can't post link as a new user, but googing MBNA platinum will show their website details.

Thanks

When applied for the MBNA Platinum with 30 months (in November 2013) I was told I didn't meet their criteria, but I could have 22 months instead.

On the information page for the offer is does state:

Eligibility for this credit card depends on your circumstances and the results of our eligibility check. The product, APR and promotional offer you could get may vary from the example

It means you did not pay attention when you applied because the elegibility checker will tell you straightaway that they cant accept you for what you applied for.

But the good news is that they have an alternative for you to consider which they will state what they can give you based on your credit file.

I have also been accepted for the same card but for 22 months instead of 30 months based on my credit profile.

The checker clearly stated this before i continued.

Btw: How long did it take to send you an email and received your card.

I was accepted straightaway on sunday and i was told my limit. but still waiting for their email as stated in the acceptance screen.

  • I used their own eligibility checker and it did not state that I hadn't qualified for the longer promotional offer.

I had an initial credit limit of £16k so I'm guessing I must have a fair credit rating.

An email confirming acceptance and explaining credit limit within 24 hours and the card arrived within 7 days.

Oh sorry, if you get the correct months and limit straightaway on the application screen, that means they reduce the months after a human review which its quit strange.

I still dont receive any email from them till now but i was told my Limit, APR and months on the application screen.
