Hardcore/base for patio

Hi All
I have a sloping garden , half way down it , we want to build a wall , which would butt up to a rockery , the rockery slopes down from level ground , we want to turn the level ground and the rockery into a patio , which would go up to the wall we want built , I have a load of bricks etc , and will have earth from digging down 3 inches on the level ground , can I just use this , to fill in the `hole` created by the wall and the rockery ?
Is there a ratio of earth and hardcore required for these things? The wall would be approx 4 foot tall and 3 meters across, the rockery is the height of the proposed wall until about 2 yards away from where it will be, not sure how to express that in volume terms
Any advice useful because I have a skip half full of rubble which I will empty out if I know I can use it for hardcore….
Cheers

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.
