MBNA didn't pass my complaint on

Hi there,
I contacted MBNA about 2 years ago regarding PPI I paid on an Alliance and Leicester account. MBNA currently run the card however I got a response to my PPI claim stating the agreement was made with Alliance and Leicester (now Santander) and that they would forward my PPI complaint to Santander and no further action would be needed by me. Since then I have fowarded the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman as I never got a response from Santander.
However it's about 18 months later now and I have today got a letter from MBNA:
It's been 18 months now! I have quite a large amount of debt still with MBNA which I'm paying interest on every month - the PPI money could have settled these debts which I have been paying interest on for 18 months.
Is there anyone I can complaint to about this? Or possible compensation? I would appreciate some advice on what my next steps should be.
Thank you
Nicolas

You may recall that following a review of your PPI complaints we identified that your account was purchased by MBNA from Alliance and Leicester (now Santander).
We previously provided a final response letter in relation to the PPI sold by us.
Unfortunately due to an administration oversight, we did not forward your complaint letter to Santander in order for them to deal with the part of your complaint which they are responsible; however, we have now done so and you should receive an acknowledgement from them within due course.
Finally, I would like to apologies for the length of time it has taken for us to provide this information.

Don't forget, it was you who originally sent the complaint to MBNA rather than Santander.0 -
Compensation for what? It sounds like you havent even chased it up in 18 months too. Remember its your responsibility to pay your debts, dont rely on a payout as it may well never happen.0
