Amazon packaging!

I know this has been brought up before, but I can't believe that Amazon still don't have the common sense to put items in appropriately sized packaging when sending out.
I ordered a 10" tablet case and today it arrived, in a massive box surrounded by loads of brown paper.

This would have been fine in a jiffy bag or a mailing bag and would have fit through my letterbox if I wasn't in (luckily I was), but If I wasn't in what would have happened then? Heard the doorbell go and was surprised when the driver handed me this massive box. I can't understand why they need so much packaging for a non-breakable item like this.
Very strange.

They're well known for it - Best one I had was a box approx twice the size of a large shoebox. What had I ordered you may ask? A new SD card for my phone which measures about 1cmx1.5cm and was approx 1mm thick. It was taped to the botton of the box!Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0

Amazon and thier stupid shipping gang are very well known for this. One of the down sides to automation, it's still cheaper for them to pay the additional postage and associated costsYes Your Dukeiness0

I get this all the time with Amazon and it drives me nuts too. My favourite is my regular order of night time nappies - it comes in a sturdy box but, of course, they still choose to put it in an even bigger box to send it to me. Yet when I ordered a new kindle the other week they just mailed it in its box and it was shoved through the letterbox to land on a stone floor. So a non-breakable item which is already well boxed requires an additional box, yet an electronic item doesn't! Crazy :mad::mad:0

I know, when I bought my Kindle just over 12 months ago, it just came in the slimline box as well, with no protective packaging whatsoever. I had mine delivered to a local collect+ point, but had it been posted through my letter box, it would have landed on a hard floor as well!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -
A tablet in a jiffy bag? Really? If it had been damaged due to insufficient packaging would you have just accepted it?0

I'm obviously the only one delighted to get the paper and cardboard boxes then, right?:o

I ordered a 60 litre tropical fish tank from Amazon and the box was left outside my front door, upside down and the tank was cracked (unsurprisingly). The quickly agreed to deliver another one that came in an extra cardboard box with no padding and that was also smashed.

Correct, it's a tablet case, not a tablet.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670
