Artificial turf on top of flat roof

Are there any issues in putting artificial green turf on top of a single storey flat roof so that the view from my 1st floor bedroom doesn't look so dull?
My architect suggested a cedum roof but I'm not spending £5k only to have insects and all on my property.

If you only want it to look better what about getting a good assortment of pot plants out there, perhaps even a decent garden sculpture.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Surely the whole point of a green roof is for it to be natural? My attitude would be the complete opposite. I don't want something that looks like grass but that doesn't attract insects! If you don't like nature put something else there.0

If someone wants to give me £5k+ I might give it some thought.
Anyway we're digressing from what my question is.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Even artificial grass will provide cover for insects, I'd be bit concerned about the grass trapping moisture and not letting roof dry out. A cedum roof is deigned with this in mind while your current roof wont be.
I'm just guessing that it might cause issues.0 -
How about growing some kind of climbing plant over the roof? maybe on some kind of structure, trellis or something. If you want the view to not be dull I'd say you need something living. The pots idea would be easiest.0

Yes and that is the type of answer I am looking for - drying out and whether artificial grass would.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

Access to the flat roof would not be easy as the council will not permit us to use it like a terrace. So frequent walks onto it would also not be possible.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

go for it.
Most are porous anyway. Verdigras offer about 7-8 different versions. Held down my sand which is brushed in , plus a few side pins above the felt. Depending where you are, this can be done for a couple of hundred + the grass.
its your roof, afterall.
PS it might get moss growing on it, so make sure roof can take some weight.

You can walk or sit on your flat roof as much as you wish, it's got nothing to do with the council if you own your own property.Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.0 -
The costs of a sedum roof isn't just the blanket alone, it's a whole build up and verge details etc that add cost, your biggest problem using artificial grass will be fixing it well enough on to the flat roof and getting some of detail at the edge to stop the wind lifting it - imo if you're not going to do the sedum then you'd be better to use a standard roof covering, or use a ballast of gravel chips which won't blow off! This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
