Debt-free and Proud! Mortgage-free Glee!

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

In usual dash but just wanted to say hello and thank you again for support yesterday. Some of you may know that my DD is bipolar and she has been going through a very rough time due to stress because of her university problems and finance. She is now allowing herself to be helped by a doctor, trying some medication and being referred for counselling.

Butterfly Brain - lovely to see you posting, please rest up and take care x

LW - Biggest support, positive vibes and all the love and hugs you need x

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, cloudy, and overcast. Dry at the moment so have put the washing on the line.

DH up and gone to work early, but not stupid early.

Dinner last night was LO cold roast pork, jacket potatoes, salad, I made a small bowl of potato salad from LO new pots and there was some other pasta salads/coleslaw that needed using up. Tonight we will be having the smoked sausage pasta that was on the menu for last night.

Tomorrow nights’ dinner will be roast chicken so I must remember to get that out of the freezer tonight to defrost.

Yesterday work was as I expected a manic Monday – and it was like it most of the day – today won’t be much different as so many came in but saw the size of the queue and left, saying that would come back today.
When I left work last night, I stopped off at the SM to collect something I had ordered, bought a loaf of bread and put some credit on DS2’s phone – I didn’t stop and browse and pick up any “bargains” so nothing extra spent other that what was needed. Trying to keep these top-up shops to a minimum or not at all. When I got in managed to get the dinner prepped, then had enough time to make up some buttercream and decorate the cupcakes with it – so they won’t get wasted as the menfolk don’t particularly like plain cakes.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

It's glorious out there and I have no washing to do! Still, I will enjoy the sunshine anyway.
Went to the residents meeting yesterday and it was quite interesting, it was also attended by local councillors so good to see their faces. I raised the issue of the storm drains not being cleared and they will write a letter on my behalf. Seems good and glad I went.
Had roast chicken and veg for tea last night, pasta tonight I think.
Hugs and well wishes to all, especially those struggling at the moment.
    Take care. XX

Good Morning all,up a bit earlier this morning(son-in-law still dropping DGS at school so no school run :):))

I thought I may take the bus up to our local Dobbies this morning as its U3A coffee morning and I have not been for 4 weeks and it will be nice to see all of my friends and thank them for my get-well cards. life is slowly getting back to normal but I am still not galloping around as quick as I did (DD says Good job too ,time you slowed up a bit ':):):))

I also have some books to go back to the library but I may do that tomorrow as I can walk there and put my books in my wallytrolley to save carrying them. weather looks a bit damp outside and rain is forecast so I will have to wrap up.Turned out a beautiful day yesterday with some gorgeous sunshine which will do the flowers (and me :):):)) the world of good.

My friend and I had a nice lunch at the local Brewers Fayre pub and it didn't break the bank :):) we also had a great long chinwag and sorted the world out as usual:)

Right, I am now off to have a shower and some breakfast and probably watch the news on t.v. I don't bother with a newspaper anymore far too full of adverts :):)
Have a good day chums whatever you are doing
    Cheers JackieO xxx

Had a c**p night. Hot flushes all night, on with the quilt, off with the quilt:mad: Didn't get up till 8am, thinking of going back to bed!

Had a good day yesterday. Did an hours' gardening (which is a long time for me) enjoyed the sunshine on my deck, and just chilled out.:T

Lazing today, and tomorrow am going out for my birthday with my cousin. She's taking me to "Yesterday's World" in Battle. I've lived here 16 years, and never been. It's supposed to be good. Then lunch in Battle to follow.

    Have a good day all.

    Hi everyone,

Well I did s*d all yesterday as I felt terrible. This always happens when I've had a busy time, I hold it all together until I don't have to and then collapse like a ton of bricks. I was always ill at the start of the school holidays as well! I can't complain though, at least I've got the time to rest and start to feel better.

I need to ring some developers today to see if they would be interested in mum's house and land. I also need to do a bit of shopping and housework but will be taking it slowly.

Still thinking of you LW. Glad to hear about your daughter TTFTM.

    Good morning all,

    LW thinking of you
Molly, JackieO and butterfly glad your all on the mend
TTFTM glad your daughter is getting help, positive vibes for you and your family
hilly rubbish night here as well. I am having hot flushes, pain in my leg if I move the wrong way. I've got a stiff neck and my Trigeminal neuralgia is terrible at the moment. As my mum says I want putting in a bag and shaking up.
It's a gorgeous day here so have the bedding in the machine and will peg out shortly. Had a frantic call from DD this morning, DGS had been sick just as he arrived at school, cue mad dash by grandma to collect him so that she could continue to work. He's currently sat eating crunchy nuts and looking none the worse for his experience:eek:
I'm trying to get through to the council, we have a whopping big hole in a grid outside our house, both myself and our neighbour have reported it and hubby has out a cone over it. We have so many dog walkers and school children past our house, just a matter if time before someone breaks a leg.
Trying to eat very healthy at the moment as I've said before and be a bit kinder to myself. I'm definitely better when I'm not totally focused on points.
Anyway enough waffle, have a good Tuesday all x
