I need to vent about this

Last Tuesday it was my grandtwins 10th birthday and they asked to go out for a family meal. so their mum asked around the family who could make it to a meal at a local Brewers Fayre at around 6.00pm. she booked a table for 19 + a high chair, a week in advance. she phoned on Saturday to confirm and was told it was booked and wasn't a problem.
she arrived and was shown to Three separate tables. she said it must be a mistake as she had asked for one large table to accommodate a family. The woman then said that they were busy and that the tables were reserved and if she didn't like it..........!!!!!!!!!!
having no choice but to wait until everyone arrived my very upset DIL, had to accept that. when we (OH and I - grandparents to the birthday girls), arrived my DIL was almost in tears. we reassured her and said the kids were having fun in the kids area and that was the most important thing. I did notice however that three tables had been put together opposite us - but there seemed to be two separate groups there.
as soon as we sat down this woman came over and asked if we were ready to order. I said no, we have just come in and haven't even seen the menu. she huffed and flounced (no other word for it) off. the adults all chose from the menu and they all sent someone off to order meals, so they would all be served at the same time.
40 minutes later the first starter came out. an hour later my OHs meal came out, my meal came out ten minutes after that. I had seen steak and chips come out for the 'long table' and it looked lovely so that's what I ordered.
my meal - well the steak was ok. I had the scrag end of chips (you know the thin bits at the bottom of the frozen chip bag, and compared to the other meals I had seen chef was feeling mean! a huge pile of peas, a tomato which couldn't decide if it was grilled or not, and five onion rings which were rather soft and soggy. not a nice meal. I think I was missing a mushroom too.
I was told later by DIL that the manager/supervisors attitude left a lot to be desired. that despite her making it plain they wanted one long table for a family group - the manager just complained they were busy and didn't 'have time' to put three tables together. the overall impression was that DIL could 'lump it or like it'.
I spoke to one of the people on the 'long table' and she said they had reserved a table for six and was shown to that one which was already occupied by a party of 7.
Well Brewers Fayre - my DIL wouldn't make a formal complaint - she doesn't like making a fuss.
But, I hate bad service like this. and speaking to the others at the party - Brewers Fayre have lost 19 customers. I for one will never set foot in there again. and neither will any one else there.
Oh, and it was the Brewers Fayre on the Crossways Retail Park, Caerphilly, on Tuesday the 22nd of April at 6.00pm!

Nothing stopping you from complaining to the manager, though - along with anyone else from your party who wants to! :cool:
I hope the birthday girls had a nice time despite it all
