Dulux Timeless - wrong colour paint

We have used Timeless twice before (1 standard Matt, 1 endurance) plus Brewers' version, Tintangel. Each time it has basically been white, just not brilliant white.
We recently bought two large tins of it and these are a brownish cream colour. They look a different colour even in the tin. We intend to take them back but do feel a bit stupid and wonder if we'll have an issue getting an exchange.
So the question, is this normal? Does it happen much that there's the wrong colour in the tin?

if you've had the paint mixed ,then occaisionally you get a mis tint , but if it's off the shelf paint then it should always be the same0
