Egg Credit Card CRP rejection

Options
Hi all looking for some advice please!!
Just had a letter from Egg refusing my insurance claim from them on the grounds that I applied for the card online and therefore had chance to read all the fine print etc.
tbh I cant remember the ins and outs and I don't have any paperwork to back me up. Ive heard that the agreement box was pre ticked to accept the insurance, would this help my claim in any way if I go to the ombudsman? Sorry for the vague post!! Thanks in advance

This should have been checked already as part of the Bank's investigation. If it's not mentioned in your rejection letter, go back to them and ask.
Do note that the practice was discontinued by all banks in July 2007, so if your finance was later than this then you are basically stuffed if you applied online as nobody sold it to you...

I applied well before 2007 should I ask to see my original application or is it not worth it?

Just ask them if there was a pre-populated box for PPI.
  • Apologies for jumping on the back of this post.

So I have two claims which are similar... they both said that I had filled them in online and then i thought that was it. Is that right, I am worried now that I have missed the deadline for forwarding to the ombudsman as i thought there was no case to answer now...

had a letter back saying because I apparently ticked the box online it shows I chose to have the insurance. Not sure if I have a case but could use some advice?

This would seem to indicate that you had the choice to tick the box. Have the Bank explicitly said there was not a pre-populated box? If not, do as I said earlier and ask them directly.
