can you help me please with my interview?

Hello!

Can you help me please with my interview?

I am about to give this interview for an organization and I will be asked to give evidence about the following, using the STAR technique for interviews (Situation, Task, Action Result).

  1. Core Competence – Collaborating and Partnering
  2. Core Competence – Leading and Communicating
  3. Core Competence – Delivering at Pace
  4. Knowledge about the organization
  5. Understanding of the key features of a system

I have already done my research and I attempted to answer the questions, but I would like input from other people, in order to combine opinions and come up with improvements in my responses.

So can you tell me please what you would mention for the above subjects?

Your answer would be nice to be specific (ie. specific examples) but also a general plan of your response would be ok, eg. regarding 'knowledge of the organization' one could include the number of employees, the budget, the goals, etc.

Thanks!

To be honest I don't think you're gonna get much response, these kinds of questions are designed to probe your previous experience and competence, you need to draw on your own history really.

ok but one can borrow some examples, or others' examples can remind their own examples, and so on

Borrow examples? No. It is based on YOUR experiences, to use someone else's would be lying.

If you can't come up with answers then you need to ask yourself if you would be capable of doing the job.

I was recently interviewed for a Charity, I was asked for a STAR example, I referred to a previous post I had held when I realised that I needed to create a database to handle all information, I explained how I created this, how it improved the previous system and how the database has been expanded to other important uses. It worked for me as I got the job. Hope this helps :)

    you are very wrong
a general plan of the characteristics of an organization can be applied to numerous organizations with small adaptations

you dont have to know the specific organization, in order to make a plan of what you should include when trying to fully describe it

its creator, its history, its purpose, its geographical area, its budget, its functions, etc are all describing as much as possible an organization

the exact details are easily retrievable from the web

Well you can't expect any answer here unless you're willing to disclose the job title, industry the company operates in, and your previous experience and qualifications. Applying general knowledge about a company sometimes backfires when the interviewer doesn't want to hear those kind of answers. There's no such thing as a one size fit all generic answer you can adapt to any interview.

Until you're willing to give further info, don't expect any help.

People don't need to know those things to answer his question/try to help.
He is asking for examples from your experience of your jobs/answers, so that he can learn from or apply the principles to his own situation/answers.

    people...

I will give you an example of an answer that I am looking for from you:

as mentioned in my first post, I will be tested in order to examine whether I have competency in "communicating"

I ask you: what are the skills of communication? what are the characteristics of effective/successful communication?

    I need to be understandable
    I need to be persuasive
I need to be a good listener
what else I need to be? what else makes me a good communicator?

and how do I show that I am able to be understood?
eg. by the fact that when I had to communicate a technical subject to people who didn't know it, I replaced the technical terms with synonyms, I explained each technical term after using it for the first time, I avoided abbreviations, I used paradigms, etc

    and so on....

Unless someone has a similar background to OP and has applied for the same type of job role it's not possible to apply 'the principles' to his own situation. It's basically asking people to randomly toss in their personal experiences in a lottery hope OP will find what he's looking for. Reponses like this could span hundreds of pages and OP may still not find his answer. It's more practical for OP to provide more info and we tailor some possible answers based on his experiences. If OP is so high and mighty as to refuse to give more info, yet hypocritically want others to disclose their past to a stranger when he's the one needing help, he might as well not bother.

my previous post proves you totally ignorant

I don't disclose more information, because it's not needed

I don't expect anyone to share his past
and if someone mentions what I used as example in my previous post, I really don't think that he reveals anything for his past, so again you are terribly wrong with your assumptions
ofcourse fictional examples are REALLY MUCH MORE welcomed, as they could be much more targeted to justify the competences
